Warning: Major Spoilers for Merlin

What really upsets me about the last episode of Merlin (other than the obvious thing, which I won’t talk about cause nope) is the death of Gwaine. It came so suddenly and unexpectedly that it felt like someone took my heart and ripped it to pieces. And shortly afterward, Arthur died and I was too devastated about him to really mourn Gwaine. It only came to me later and it wasn’t any easier dealing with his death than dealing with Arthur's.

And what made it even worse for me was that, with Arthur, we had this reassurance that he would come back some day because he is the “Once and Future King”, but with Gwaine, it isn’t like that.

And the last words he said were: “I failed”.
