I decided to start regular posts about my writing journey. It is mostly for me, so that I have a record of my progress, but also for anyone who is interested.
This month I decided to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo (here is the link for anyone who doesn't know what that it), I participated in NaNo last November. I wrote a few thousand words but couldn't continue because I didn't have a solid plot and words just wouldn't come to me. But after the month was gone, I finally found the solution to my problem and started the fanfic again from scratch.
Ever since then, I have been on and off with writing, but when I heard about Camp starting, I decided to give myself a chance and join with 25K in mind. (My secret goal was actually 30K, but I didn't want to make it my official goal on the website in fear I wouldn't reach it.)
So far, I have written about 22000 words. I honestly can't believe it. I don't think I've written so much in one month before. I wrote a few chapters before Camp started so now The Once and Future King has overall about 28500 words in it. I'm currently half way through the plot and I can't wait to finish it. I haven't finished any story except for one which was my first story ever. And it is so awful that my sister accidentally deleted it from the computer and I wasn't even angry.
I am surprised that I managed to write so much, and honestly I'm proud of myself. I know that for a lot of people, they write a lot more than than but for me, this is a new accomplishment. I'm determined to finish this story and I can't wait to share it with everyone. This story is really dear to my heart and I can't wait to see people's reactions; whether it is good or bad, I don't care. As long as it is honest. It will help me become a better writer.
(Oh and by the way, that icon is the cover of the story, made @_teenagers on Wattpad.)

(no subject)
Date: 25/4/15 05:05 am (UTC)I signed up for Camp NaNo and....sort of failed to write, anything. I participated in NaNo 2013, made it past 50,000. Then I took that story and retooled it significantly for NaNo 2014. Only got less than halfway and it meandered a lot! I have plot and characters but I feel like it needs more before I feel comfortable continuing. I know that sometimes you don't feel entirely comfortable and it is good to write anyway but....
I would be really interested to read your story. I love the apparent subject matter!

Date: 25/4/15 11:44 pm (UTC)I know how you feel. I have the same issue with another fanfic that I'm working on. I'm really excited about what I've written so far but I'm stuck figuring out how to get from A to B and whatever that I do, I still feel that something is missing. I will fix it eventually, I usually do. I just need to find time for that. (AKA I want to finish The Once and Future King first.)
One of the things that usually help me when I'm stuck is just reading what I've written so far and write notes. It may help you figure out what is it exactly that your story needs. Or send it to a friend, an unbiased opinion can help.
I can't wait to finish it honestly. It reached this point when you are really engrossed in one story that you don't think of another. (Which I never did before. I usually be working on at least two stories at a time.) and I'm almost at the end! :)
