So I stumbled on this on Tumblr and thought it would be fun to do.
A: Your current OTP.
Uhhh. I have a lot of OTPs. Like, a lot. But the ones that have stuck with me for years now are Harry/Draco, Sherlock/John, and Merlin/Arthur. Other favourites of mine are Dean/Castiel and Tony/Steve. I have a bunch of others aswell but this might take all night if I list them all.
B: A pairing or headcanon you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
Pairing: Nothing really comes to mind right now. But I'm generally open to new pairings, especially slash ones, and I'm known to start shipping people just because of a fanfic I read, like Tony/Loki for example. And Damon/Stefan from The Vampire Diaries before I dropped the show.
Headcanon: This isn't technically a spoiler since we still don't know for certainbuut I will I will put it under cut anyway.
It is a pretty common theory that Jon Snow is the son of Rhaergar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. I hadn't thought about it before stumbling upon on Facebook, and it makes a lot of sense really. But I keep thinking that maybe there is still more information that we don't know yet, and Martin is doing all that to fuck us up. It isn't like it would be the first time.
So I don't know. I love the theory, but I also want to be proven wrong just to be surprised by yet another plot twist.
Keep in mind that I only read the first three books so far, so no spoilers or I will hunt you down.
C: A pairing you wish you shipped or a headcanon you wish you accepted, but just can't.
Hm, perhaps Arthur/Gwen? It has nothing to do with me shipping Merthur -I'm used to shipping two males and getting my hopes up that they might get together, but they never do thanks to the writers (See Dean/Castiel).- It is just that I didn't see any chemistry between them at all. So I found all the scenes about them a little boring.
D: What was the first thing you ever contributed to a fandom?
I used to ramble about Harry Potter on Twitter and spam everyone with pictures, does that count? No? Okay then.
Um fanfics, then. I have been writing them for a long time but only got my courage to post anything just a few days ago.
E: Have you added anything really silly to your fandom? If so, what?
No, nothing I can recall.
F: What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom? What fandom was it?
Harry Potter. It has been almost 5 years now, and I still love it. It is just so rich that I still come across new and headcanons and fics to read. I'm still not done with this fandom, possibly never will be.
G: What was your first fandom?
Harry Potter. It is the one that got me in fandoms and this whole madness, and I will forever have a soft spot for it.
H: Do you prefer live-action fandoms or animated fandoms?
Not considering anime I watched when I was a kid that I don't really remember anymore, I have only started to like animated fandoms lately when I started watching Naruto, so I'm still relatively new. So far, I think live-action has a slightly higher preference for me.
I: Have online discussions caused you to stop liking any fandoms? If so, which ones and why?
Sort of. It wasn't the main reason, but one of the reasons why I stopped liking The Vampire Diaries were the stupid fights between Delena and Stelena shippers, and of course it didn't help that the TV show kept jumping between both just to cause more drama and gain more viewers. I shipped them both but after a while I found myself not caring about what happened as the show became more and more about Elena and how she can't choose between the Salvatores, so I stopped watching it. The only things I miss about the show are the brothers and Originals, and the latter have a TV show for their own now so I will just watch that at some point.
J: Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over the Internet.
Definitely Naruto. I wasn't particularly care about anime in general until I kept seeing this show everywhere, so I decided to watch it. So far, it isn't the best thing ever but it is definitely entertaining.
Okay this is getting too long, and I'm supposed to be writingbut instead I'm procrastinating of course so I will continue this tomorrow.

Date: 11/10/15 03:02 pm (UTC)Same here. What's so great about HP is that there was just so MUCH to work with! So many characters, theories, storylines and even objects. Every spell provided the potential for a fic or discussion. I'll always love it. People talk about how awful it was, but it really depended on where you hung out.

I heard something about this, and it put a lot of people off the show and the fandom. Something similar happened with Glee - the writing was dreadful, the showrunners only cared about causing drama rather than writing something decent, and almost all spaces for discussion were overflowing with character- and actor hate.
I think that social media has made fandom worse, in a way. People are too close to the creators and actors, and it's easier to get overinvested.

Date: 15/10/15 05:16 pm (UTC)Exactly. It remains one of the richest fandoms out there. I don't think I will ever get bored of the characters or the world.

Yeah, that was why I never got back to Glee. It is such a shame, though, because there were a lot of interesting characters in the show. Hmph.
Perhaps. And it also makes you aware of issues in some TV shows that you might have never noticed before or at least you have looked past it, like the presentation of women or people of colour and all that. Not necessarily a bad thing. But it sure makes it harder to enjoy the show/movie/book once you notice some of the issues.

Date: 1/11/15 07:18 pm (UTC)But the manga is really good. I occasionally read a couple of volumes of it when I am not in the mood to watch the anime. Right now, I keep jumping between the anime and the manga, depending on how busy I am.
Sorry for the late reply. Life has been crazy lately.

Date: 2/10/15 08:02 pm (UTC)That was the reason why I kept watching for, until I stopped in the middle of a season and never managed to get back at it. I didn't miss that much to be honest, because of the amount of drama that was happening yet again by Elena. I just wish she would pick one already, so the other would have time to be sad and move and we can can get another plot line.
(Also when I heard that the Originals leaved the show helped that I never got back to it.)

Date: 5/10/15 08:52 pm (UTC)Oh interesting. I will keep an eye on the new season. If no new love triangle is introduced or something like that, I might get back to the show.
